Duri Rejuvacote 1 vs Rejuvacote 2: Which Nail Strengthener Should You Use?

By Edmond Lin, M1 Nail & Beauty Supply, Markham, Ontario. Last updated 11 October 2026. Product claims, directions and ingredients are Duri's own published information.

Duri Rejuvacote 1 is the original, maximum-strength nail strengthener for weak, brittle natural nails; Rejuvacote 2 is the gentler formula for thin, peeling or sensitive nails, made without DBP, toluene and formaldehyde. Both work as a base coat, a top coat or a stand-alone treatment, both air dry, and both follow the same 7-day routine. Choose Rejuvacote 1 for nails that break or split, or that are recovering from acrylics or gels. Choose Rejuvacote 2 for nails that peel, or for anyone who wants the formaldehyde-free formula.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose Duri Rejuvacote 1 when the nails are weak, brittle or splitting, or when they are growing out after acrylics, gel or dip.
  • Choose Duri Rejuvacote 2 when the nails are thin and peel in layers, when the client has sensitive nails, or when you want the formula Duri has long labelled as free of DBP, toluene and formaldehyde.
  • Not sure? Start with Rejuvacote 2. It is the gentler of the two, and the routine is identical if you switch later.
  • Neither goes over enhancements. Rejuvacote is made for natural nails, not for the surface of acrylic, gel or dip nails.

How to use Rejuvacote: the 7-day routine

  1. Start with clean, dry natural nails.
  2. Apply one coat of Rejuvacote as a base coat.
  3. Apply two coats of nail polish if you want colour.
  4. Apply one coat of Rejuvacote as the top coat.
  5. Add one more coat every day for seven days.
  6. Remove everything with nail polish remover and start again.

Without colour, the routine is simpler still: one thin coat on bare nails each day, removed after a week. Once the nails have improved, Duri says to apply it every other day or as needed. Duri also says to expect a visible difference after about 2 to 3 weeks of use as directed.

New packaging, old packaging and formaldehyde

Duri is changing the look of both bottles, and both versions are in circulation.

  • Rejuvacote 1 used to come in a blue box with a large red "1". The new white box reads "Rejuvacote One, Maximum Strength" and states: no formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, camphor or parabens. The earlier blue box does not carry that statement.
  • Rejuvacote 2 used to come in a purple box marked "Super Sensitive Formula". The new box reads "Rejuvacote Two, Balanced Repair". Duri describes Rejuvacote 2 as formulated without DBP, toluene and formaldehyde.
  • The Rejuvacote 1 that M1 stocks is the new-look version. If you buy elsewhere and avoid formaldehyde, read the ingredient list on the box, or choose Rejuvacote 2.
  • Duri describes the new look as an upgraded, more nourishing formula with the same bottle size, 0.45 fl oz / 13.3 ml.

Does Rejuvacote 1 contain formaldehyde?

It depends on the version. The new-look "Rejuvacote One" box states no formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, camphor or parabens. The earlier blue box makes no such statement, so check the ingredient list on your box. The Rejuvacote 1 we stock is the new-look version.
