      How to choose press-on nails

      • Press-on or soft gel tip. Press-ons are finished designs clients can put on themselves; soft gel tips are blank salon tips bonded with gel under a lamp and then coloured by the technician.
      • Glue or tabs. Nail glue holds longest; adhesive tabs are gentler and easier to take off for a weekend or an event.
      • Sell the prep with the set. A prep kit next to the press-ons at the counter helps clients get them to stay on.
      • Store by size. A divided box keeps reusable sets in order between wears.

      Press-on nails FAQ

What is the difference between press-on nails and soft gel tips?

Press-on nails are finished sets, already coloured and decorated, that go on with glue or adhesive tabs and need no lamp. Soft gel tips are blank salon tips bonded with gel and cured under a UV/LED lamp, then coloured by the technician. Press-ons suit retail and quick wear; soft gel tips are a salon service.

How do I make press-on nails stay on longer?

Prep is most of it: push back the cuticle, remove the shine with a buffer, wipe the nail clean and let it dry. Choose a tip that covers the nail from sidewall to sidewall, use nail glue rather than tabs for longer wear, and press each nail down firmly for several seconds.

      Can press-on nails be reused?

Often, if they were put on with adhesive tabs or taken off gently. Soak the fingers in warm, soapy water to loosen them, never pry them off, and clean the old glue or tab off the back. Store the set by size and reapply with fresh glue or tabs.
