Plastic nail tips are glue-on tips that add length before an acrylic, builder gel or dip overlay goes over them. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks natural and clear tips in single-size refill bags, bulk packs and divided boxes from USN, Lamour, Omega, CND and Mr. Nail.

How to choose plastic tips
- Natural or clear. Natural tips disappear under colour and cover powder; clear tips suit encapsulated art and see-through looks.
- Box first, then refills. A divided box holds every size. Once you know the sizes you use most, buy those as single-size bags of 50, or packs of 10 or 100 bags.
- Match the shape to the set. Start from the tip closest to the finished shape so you file less and keep the sidewalls strong.

Plastic tips FAQ
What do the size numbers on plastic nail tips mean?
The number is the width: the lower the number, the wider the tip. Size 0 fits a wide thumb and the highest number fits a small pinky. USN starts at #0, Lamour labels its first size 00 and Omega starts at 01. Size each nail from sidewall to sidewall before you glue.
How do I blend the seam of a plastic tip?
Once the glue has set, cut the tip to length and file the edge of the well flat with a medium file until no line shows, without filing into the natural nail. Clean off the dust, then apply your overlay of acrylic, builder gel or dip.
Do plastic tips need an overlay?
Yes. A plastic tip on its own is thin and flexible, so it cracks or pops off. Cover the tip and the natural nail with acrylic, builder gel or dip so the extension becomes one strong piece; the overlay is what holds the length.
