A nail cleaning brush is a scrub brush used with soap and water to clean under the free edge, around the cuticles and on metal implements before they are disinfected. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks small and round-head scrub brushes, plus brush cleaning containers for gel and nail art brushes, from MNBS and JING.
Types of cleaning brushes
| Type | Best for | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Scrub brush | Washing hands and nails before the service, and scrubbing filings and product off metal implements before disinfecting. | Nail Brush, Cleaning Brush - Small, Cleaning Brush - Round Head |

How to choose a cleaning brush
- Scrub before you disinfect. Disinfectant works on clean surfaces, so brush filings and product off implements first.
- Separate brushes by job. Keep the brush for clients' hands apart from the one used on implements.
- Change the brush cleaner often. Refill the container with the cleaner your brush maker recommends once it turns cloudy.

Cleaning brush FAQ
What is the difference between a nail scrub brush and a dust brush?
A scrub brush is used wet, with soap and water, on hands, nails and implements. A dust brush has soft bristles and is used dry, to sweep filing dust off the nail and the table during the service. Keep them separate: a wet scrub brush does not clear dust well.
Why scrub implements before they go in disinfectant?
Disinfectant has to touch the whole surface to work. Dust, filings, gel or skin left on a pusher or nipper covers the metal underneath. Scrub with soap and water, rinse, then immerse the tools for the full contact time on the disinfectant label and let them dry.
What goes in a brush cleaning container?
Fill it with the brush cleaner your gel or brush maker recommends, enough to cover the bristles but not the metal ferrule. Wipe excess gel off first, swish the brush, then blot it dry. Avoid acetone unless the brush maker allows it, as it can dry out bristles and loosen the glue.
