Beauty tools are the reusable steel instruments of brow, lash and facial work: tweezers, small scissors and skin extractors that are cleaned and disinfected between clients. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks tweezers and scissors from MBI, NGHIA, Paie, Staleks and MNBS, with slanted, square, pointed and curved tips.

How to choose beauty tools
- The tip decides the job. Slanted tips grip most brow hairs, square tips hold thick hairs or several at once, and fine pointed or curved tips pick up single hairs and lashes.
- Buy enough to rotate. Keep at least two of the tweezers you use most, so one is in use while the other is being cleaned and disinfected.
- Follow the maker's care instructions. MBI, an instrument maker in Pickering, Ontario, states that its steel tools are autoclavable; for other tools, check the maker's instructions before you sterilize them.

Beauty tools FAQ
Slanted, pointed or square tweezers: which is best for brows?
Slanted tips are the all-round brow tweezer: the angled edge grips a single hair or a few at once. Pointed and needle-nose tips reach short, fine hairs and suit close detail. Square tips, such as the NGHIA N-404, hold thicker hairs and several at once.
How do I clean tweezers between clients?
Wipe off debris and wash them with soap and water, then immerse them in a salon disinfectant for the contact time on its label, or sterilize them where the maker allows it; MBI states its steel tools are autoclavable. Rinse, dry and keep them in a closed container until the next client.
What is a blackhead extractor used for in a facial?
It is a small steel tool with a loop or a fine needle at the end, used to clear blocked pores during a professional facial once the skin has been cleansed and softened. Use light, even pressure, never force it, and clean and disinfect it after every client.
