How to choose nail art lacquer

      • Lacquer or gel. Nail art lacquer air-dries, so it suits regular-polish manicures and pedicures; for designs inside a gel manicure, use nail art gel, which cures under the lamp.
      • Start with black and white. They handle outlines, French edges and dots; glitter and metallic shades add accents for holiday and party sets.
      • Seal the design. Let the art dry, then apply a lacquer top coat. China Glaze gives the same steps for Stripe Rite: apply over your polish and seal it.

      Nail art lacquer FAQ

Can I use nail art lacquer on a gel manicure?

Nail art lacquer is made to air-dry over regular polish. In a gel manicure, a nail art gel is the simpler choice: it cures under the lamp with the rest of the set and soaks off with it, so the design and the colour come off together.

How do I paint a straight line with a striper polish?

Wipe most of the polish off one side of the brush, rest your hand on the table and lay the brush flat on the nail. Pull the line in one steady stroke instead of dabbing, and let each line dry before you cross it with another.

What is the difference between nail art lacquer and regular nail polish?

Both are air-dry polish. Nail art lacquer is made for detail: it comes in colours chosen for lines and accents, such as black, white, gold and silver, with a brush for fine work. Regular polish is made to cover the whole nail in even coats.
