Salon disinfectant is the liquid that cleaned implements are immersed in between clients; sterilization pouches hold cleaned metal implements through an autoclave or other sterilizer and keep them sealed until use. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks Barbicide disinfectant concentrate and self-sealing sterilization pouches from Chamber, Champion and Ecosafe.

      How to choose disinfection supplies

      • Clean before you immerse. Wash off dust and product with soap and water first; only cleaned implements go into the jar.
      • Follow the label. Mix Barbicide at the dilution on the label and keep implements in for the full contact time; our guide has a mixing chart by jar size.
      • A pouch is packaging. It does not sterilize by itself, and a changed indicator only shows that it went through a cycle. Follow your sterilizer instructions and local public health rules.

      Disinfectant FAQ

How often should I change the Barbicide in the jar?

The label calls for a fresh solution every day. Change it sooner if it turns cloudy or has debris in it. Mix it with water at the ratio on the label, put in only cleaned implements, and leave them for the full contact time. Our Barbicide guide has a mixing chart by jar size.

Do I need sterilization pouches if I already use a disinfectant?

That depends on your local public health rules and on whether you run an autoclave or other sterilizer. Pouches are made for that step: cleaned, dry implements are sealed in a pouch, run through the cycle and kept sealed until you open the pouch in front of the client.

Which sterilization pouch size do I need?

The 3.5 x 7.48 inch pouch fits nippers, pushers and other short implements; the 3.5 x 9.86 inch pouch leaves room for longer ones. Load one set per pouch with hinged tools open, peel the strip and seal the flap, and write the date on the pouch before the cycle.
