Acrylic powder is the polymer powder that a brush wet with monomer picks up as a bead; the bead sets into a hard acrylic overlay or extension. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks clear, pink, white and cover powders from Young Nails, CND, Notpolish, BeBeauty and ONME, from 45 g jars to 32 oz salon sizes.

      How to choose acrylic powder

      • Clear, pink, white or cover. Clear for overlays and encapsulated art, a pink with a white for pink-and-white, and an opaque cover pink to hide nail-bed marks.
      • Pick a set speed you can work with. Young Nails Speed sets fastest and Core gives the most working time; a slower powder suits new techs and detailed sculpting.
      • One jar, two services: Notpolish Dipping-Acrylic powders work with monomer as acrylic or with dip liquids as dip.
      • Size by use. Try a shade in a small jar, then buy the shades you use on every set in 85 g, 22 oz or 32 oz.

      Acrylic powder FAQ

What is the difference between clear, pink, white and cover acrylic powder?

Clear powder is see-through and used for overlays, encapsulated art and the top layer of a set. Pink powders tint the nail bed, from sheer to opaque. White is for the free edge of a pink-and-white. Cover powders are opaque pinks or nudes that hide marks and make a short nail bed look longer.

      Should I use a fast-setting or slow-setting acrylic powder?

A fast-setting powder shortens the service but leaves less time to shape the bead, so it suits experienced techs. A slower set gives time to press out the apex and smile line, which helps new techs and detailed work. Young Nails sells both, in its Speed and Core ranges.

How do I keep acrylic powder clean in the jar?

Pour a small amount into a dappen dish instead of dipping a wet brush into the main jar, close the lid between clients and keep jars away from filing dust. Liquid or dust in the jar makes the powder clump and can change its colour, so never pour used powder back.
