A salon lamp is a task light that brightens the work area for nail, lash and facial services; it lights the work but does not cure gel. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks foldable LED table lamps, moon and half-moon floor lamps and LED ARC lamps from MNBS, plus a magnifying floor lamp and a clamp-on magnifying lamp from Champion.

How to choose a salon lamp

      • Table or floor. A table lamp sits on the manicure table; a floor lamp stands beside a lash bed, facial bed or pedicure chair and leaves the table clear.
      • Moon shapes spread the light. Moon and half-moon lamps curve the light around the work area, which helps cut shadows on the hand, the lashes or the face.
      • Magnify for detail. The Champion magnifying lamps add a lens for close work; the mount model attaches to a trolley or table edge, and the trolley in its photo is not included.

      Salon lamp FAQ

Can a salon desk lamp cure gel polish?

No. A desk or floor lamp is a work light: it helps you see, but it is not made to cure gel. Gel polish, builder gel and gel top coat need a UV/LED nail lamp and the cure time on the bottle. Keep both at the station: the work light for detail, the nail lamp for curing.

Which lamp works best for lash extensions?

A floor lamp, so nothing sits between you and the client's face. A moon or half-moon lamp curves the light over the lash bed and helps cut shadows, and a magnifying lamp helps with fine isolation work. Position the light so it does not shine straight into the client's eyes.

How do I clean an LED salon lamp?

Unplug it, then wipe the shade and arm with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner or a surface disinfectant that suits the material. Do not spray liquid straight into the light or any vents, and keep acetone off the lamp body. Wipe off nail dust often.
