How to choose massage oil or lotion

      • Oil or lotion. Oil gives more glide for a longer massage; lotion absorbs and leaves less residue before the client puts shoes back on.
      • Offer an unscented option for clients who prefer no fragrance: the Professional Unscented Massage Lotion, or La Palm massage oil in Fragrance Free.
      • Refill from gallons. Decant into pump bottles at each station; cases of four gallons suit busy pedicure salons.
      • Add a candle for an upgraded service: a 0.5 oz Soy 68 candle is sized for one client, the 6 oz for several.

      Massage oil and lotion FAQ

Should I use massage oil or massage lotion in a pedicure?

Both work. Oil stays slippery longer, so it suits a long leg and foot massage; lotion absorbs as you work and leaves the skin less greasy when the client stands up. Many salons keep an oil for spa pedicures and a lotion for basic services.

How do you use a massage oil candle?

Soy 68 directs you to burn the candle for 10 to 15 minutes, blow it out, then use the melted oil. Test the oil on your own wrist first, and pour it into your palm rather than straight from the tin onto the client's skin.

Will massage oil affect gel polish or nail polish?

Oil left on the nail plate stops gel and polish from bonding. Do the massage before the polish step, then clean the nails with a cleanser or alcohol before the base coat. If you massage after polish, wait until it is fully dry and keep the oil off the fresh colour.
