A nail colour chart is a set of blank swatch tips, on a ring, a board or in a book, that you paint with each polish or gel so clients can pick the real colour. M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks swatch rings and fans, large tip charts, display books, nail art stands and mounting supplies, mostly from MNBS.

How to choose a colour chart

      • Natural or clear tips. Natural tips show a sheer shade close to how it looks on a nail; clear tips show the colour on its own and suit glitter and jelly shades.
      • Size to the range. A 50-tip ring suits one line or a seasonal collection; 120- and 240-tip charts and display books hold a full wall of colours.
      • Label every tip. Write the shade code on the back or on a small sticker so the colour a client picks can be found on the shelf.

      Colour chart FAQ

How should I paint swatch tips so they match the nail?

Use the same steps as a service: base, two coats of colour and top coat, each cured or dried fully. Cover the whole tip so the colour shows edge to edge, and use the same tip colour, natural or clear, across a chart so shades compare fairly.

How do I attach nail art tips to a display?

Put a small piece of reusable putty such as Tack-it on the back of each tip, or use double-sided tape on flat boards, so designs can be changed without damage.

Is a swatch ring or a display book better?

A ring or fan is quick to hand to a client and easy to rearrange. A book or large chart keeps a full range in order and away from dust, which suits a reception counter. Many salons use a book for the full range and rings for new or seasonal shades.
