Brown or white bands?
Both are 1/2 inch long with a 1/4 inch inside diameter, fit a standard 1/4 inch shaft mandrel, and are single-use. The dark brown band is aluminum oxide abrasive cloth, the general-purpose band, and its coarse grade starts lower, at 80 grit. The white band is alumina zirconia and is the cleaner one: the label says the white colour eliminates black dust, so nothing dark is left on a light or clear enhancement. Its coarse grade is 120 grit. Pick the 100-piece bag to try a grit and the 1000-piece bag for the grits the salon uses every day.
Questions nail techs ask
Which grit should I start with? Medium, 150 grit, is the general-purpose band on both labels. Go to coarse for rough shaping and fast removal, and to fine for finishing and smoothing.
Is the brown fine band 180 or 240 grit? Both exist: the 100-piece bag is labelled 180 grit and the 1000-piece bag is labelled 240 grit. Check the product name before you reorder.
Can a sanding band be reused? No. Bands cannot be disinfected, so use a new one for each client. The carbide bits are reusable once cleaned and disinfected.
