How to use
- Wash the tools with soap and water and a brush to remove skin, dust and product, then rinse. Disinfectant does not work through debris.
- Mix 2 oz (60 mL, 1/4 cup) of Barbicide into 32 oz (946 mL, 4 cups) of water in a disinfecting jar. Add the water first to limit foam.
- Immerse the clean tools completely for 10 minutes, or longer if your local health unit requires it.
- Lift the tools out with tongs or the jar basket, rinse, dry and store them in a clean, covered container.
- Make a fresh batch every day, and sooner when the solution turns cloudy or collects debris.
Good to know
- For hard, non-porous items only: metal nippers and pushers, shears, combs, plastic and glass. Porous items such as nail files, buffers and wooden sticks cannot be disinfected in it.
- Barbicide disinfects; it does not sterilize. Where sterilization is required, use an autoclave or dry-heat unit as your local rules set out.
- The concentrate is corrosive. Wear gloves and eye protection when mixing, keep it away from skin and eyes, and keep it out of reach of children. Read the label on your bottle before use.
- Tools left in the jar for hours can dull or pit, even with the anti-rust formula. Take them out after the contact time.
- Also available: the 1.89 L (64 fl oz, half gallon). Jars to mix it in: large disinfecting jar and medium disinfecting jar.
