GiGi Wax Guide: Which Formula for Which Hair and Skin

By Edmond Lin, M1 Nail & Beauty Supply, Markham, Ontario. Last updated 8 October 2026. Product details are taken from GiGi's own product pages.

Pick GiGi wax by hair and skin. All Purpose Honee is the general soft wax for any area. Crème Wax is for sensitive skin and fine hair, Dark Honee and Milk Chocolate Crème are for coarse hair, and Azulene suits normal skin with medium to coarse hair. For stripless waxing, use All Purpose Hard Wax or the hard wax beads.

Soft wax or hard wax?

Soft wax goes on in a thin layer and comes off with a muslin or cloth strip. It is quick on large areas such as legs, arms and backs. Hard wax goes on thicker, sets on the skin and is pulled off by its own edge with no strip, which is why it is the usual choice for the face, underarms and bikini area. GiGi sells both in the same 14 oz can, so either fits a standard warmer.

GiGi wax questions

Can I use GiGi wax without a warmer?

Yes, with the 8 oz microwave formulas: All Purpose Honee Microwave, Crème Microwave and Glitter Hard Wax Microwave. The Honee Microwave Wax & Essentials kit adds applicators and muslin strips. The 14 oz cans are metal and must be heated in a wax warmer, never in a microwave.

What do I need before and after waxing?

GiGi's routine has three steps around the wax itself. Pre Hon Cleanser clears oil, makeup and dead skin before waxing. Wax Off lifts wax residue from the skin afterwards. Post Wax Cooling Gel, with menthol, aloe vera and cucumber extract, cools the skin at the end of the service.

Which GiGi wax is best for sensitive skin?

GiGi makes four soft waxes for reactive skin: Crème Wax for sensitive skin with fine hair, No Sting for delicate or dry skin, Zinc Oxide Ultra Sensitive for ultra-sensitive skin, and Neon Pineapple, which also comes as a hard wax. Always test the wax temperature on the inside of the wrist first.

How long has GiGi made wax?

GiGi states on its product pages that it has been a hair removal wax brand since 1972.
