JING Function Gel Guide: Top Coats, Builder Gels and What Each Code Does

By Edmond Lin, M1 Nail & Beauty Supply, Markham, Ontario. Last updated 9 October 2026. Uses, ratings and lamp times follow JING's own product cards.

JING (竟) function gels are identified by code. JS01 to JS19 are 16 ml bottles with a brush: prep, base, bottle builders and nine top coats. JO01 to JO07 are 30 g jars of thicker gel that you pick up with a gel brush: builder base, builder and extension gels, a top gel and three nail art gels. By JING's product cards, bases and builders cure in 60 seconds and top coats in 120 seconds under a UV/LED lamp. The tables below show which code to reach for.

Prep and base: JS01, JS02, JS03 or JO01

JS01 Nail Primer is not a base coat. It is an air-dry primer that removes oil and moisture from the nail plate, and it goes on before any of the three bases.

JS03 Base Gel is the everyday base for gel colour: JING rates adhesion as its strongest property and gives a wear time of 45 days or more. JS02 5in1 Builder Base is thicker and does four jobs from one bottle: base, building, reinforcing and bonding nail tips. JO01 Builder Base Gel Jar is the base of the jar system, described on its card as holding on thin, soft nails without layering or lifting.

JING builder gels: bottle or jar

The four JS builders brush on from the bottle and self-level. The two JO builders are thicker jar gels for more structure. JING suggests flash-curing the jar gels with a handheld lamp while you build, to avoid heat spikes.

Code Builder Feel Use it for
JS04 Builder Gel Bottle, self-levelling, hard Apex and C-curve
JS05 Overlay Builder Gel Bottle, flexible Strengthening natural nails
JS16 Thin Builder Gel Bottle, thin and soft Press-on nails, wrapping charms, chrome work
JS18 Light Pink Builder Gel Bottle, sheer light pink Shape and colour in one step
JO02 Overlay Builder Gel Jar, clear, levels fast Overlays under solid colours
JO03 Classic Builder Gel Clear Jar, clear, hardest Sculpted extensions, tip extensions, shaping

Chrome powder with JING: two ways

Full-nail mirror chrome

  1. Apply base and colour, curing each layer.
  2. Apply JS13 Chrome Powder Top Coat and cure 30 to 60 seconds. JING says no flash-cure timing is needed.
  3. Rub chrome powder over the cured surface until it turns to a mirror.
  4. Seal with a top coat such as JS07 Long Last Gel Top Coat and cure 120 seconds.

Chrome on the design only

  1. Over cured colour, apply JS12 No Mess Matte Top Coat and cure 120 seconds. Powder does not cling to this matte surface.
  2. Draw raised lines or shapes with JO07 Non-wipe Styling Gel Jar and cure 20 to 60 seconds. It is no-wipe.
  3. Rub chrome powder across the nail. It stays on the design and brushes off the matte background.

Setting rhinestones with JING

Place a small bead of JO06 Rhinestone Glue Gel Jar, set the stones into it and cure 60 seconds. Its card describes a mochi-like texture made for stacking stones, and a gel that does not yellow after curing. Then run the fine brush of JS15 Rhinestone Sealer Top Coat around each stone to seal the edges and cure 120 seconds. JO07 Non-wipe Styling Gel Jar is not the gel for this: JING notes that, being fully no-wipe, it grips stones less than JO06.

Times are for a UV/LED lamp and come from the brand cards. The cards do not state a lamp wattage, so check that each layer is fully cured with your own lamp.

JING colour gels

The function gels are made to work with JING colours: 100 JE bottle shades in five themed sets of 20, the 18-shade JA 5 in 1 line, and JC jar colours that include two cat eye lines and a set of nail art material gels. The full list with shade counts and sizes is on the JING page.

JING function gel FAQ

Which JING top coat is the hardest?

JS07 Long Last Gel Top Coat. JING lists it at 9H hardness with 45 days or more of wear and describes the film as hard and not easy to crack. JS09 Stain Resistant Top Gel is the other hard option, described as bright and hard at the same time.

What is the difference between JING JS06 and JS12 matte top coats?

JS06 Matte Top Coat is the finishing matte: a velvet surface for matte looks. JS12 No Mess Matte Top Coat is a working matte: chrome powder does not stick to it, so it serves as the background when you want powder on a drawn design only.

What is the difference between JING JO02 and JO03?

JO02 Overlay Builder Gel Jar is the overlay builder: clear, smooth under the brush and quick to level, with enough hardness to reinforce the natural nail. JO03 Classic Builder Gel Jar Clear is the extension gel: harder, holds its shape without springing back, and listed for sculpted extensions, tip extensions and shaping.

How long do JING top coats cure?

120 seconds under a UV/LED lamp for nine of the ten, by JING's product cards. The exception is JS13, the chrome powder top coat, at 30 to 60 seconds.

Why does JING JO07 need to be kept away from light?

JING marks JO07 Non-wipe Styling Gel Jar as highly light-sensitive and asks that it be used and stored away from light. Keep the lid on between uses and work away from the open lamp, or the gel can start to cure in the jar.

Is JING JS10 Practice Liquid a primer?

No. JS10 Practice Liquid is an air-dry peel-off layer for practising gel application, and the whole film peels away afterwards. The primer is JS01 Nail Primer.

Uses, ratings, lamp times and the notes on heat and light sensitivity are taken from JING's own product cards as shown in M1's product photos, October 2026. Figures such as 9H hardness, 91% light transmission and 45 days of wear are JING's claims and were not tested by M1. The step orders for chrome powder and rhinestones are common salon practice built around those lamp times. This guide is for trained nail technicians.
