Kupa Handpieces Compared: KP-60 vs KP-65 vs Companion vs ICON
By Edmond Lin, M1 Nail & Beauty Supply, an authorized KUPA repair centre in Canada. Last updated 6 October 2026. Specifications are taken from KUPA's own product pages.
Kupa sells four current MANIPro handpieces: the KP-60, KP-65, Companion and ICON. Three of them run at 30,000 RPM and differ mainly in weight, length and warranty. The ICON runs at 20,000 RPM and is the heaviest. All four take standard 3/32" bits and use a locking chuck, so bits change by hand without tools.

Kupa e-file questions
Is the Kupa KP-55 discontinued?
Yes. Kupa's KP-55 page lists the handpiece as sold out and being discontinued as of January 2026. The KP-60 and KP-65 fit the same Passport control box.
Which handpieces work with the Passport control box?
Kupa lists the KP-55, KP-60, KP-65, Companion and ICON as compatible with the MANIPro Passport control box, along with the older KP-36 and KP-50.
Can I use any Kupa handpiece with the MANIPro Hana?
Check before you buy. Kupa's Hana page says the Hana control box works only with the Hana handpiece and the KP-65.
How long does a Kupa Passport battery last?
Kupa rates the Passport at 8 to 10 hours per charge and the Passport NEXT at 10 to 12 hours. A full charge takes about 2 hours.
What size bits do Kupa handpieces take?
Standard 3/32" shank bits. See our drill bit grit guide for which grit to use.
How much torque do Kupa handpieces have?
Kupa does not publish a torque figure. Its product pages describe the KP-60, KP-65 and Companion as high torque at 30,000 RPM, and none of them gives a value in N·cm or oz-in. The only numbers we found online (checked 6 October 2026) are on listings for third-party replacement handpieces, not on Kupa's own pages.
