Roll-On Wax Cartridges Explained: How Xanitalia 100 ml Roll-On Wax Works

By Edmond Lin, M1 Nail & Beauty Supply, Markham, Ontario. Last updated 9 October 2026. Product details are taken from Xanitalia's own product information and from the cartridge labels.

A roll-on wax cartridge is a 100 ml tube of soft wax with a roller head built into the top. The cartridge warms inside a roll-on wax heater, the roller lays a thin layer of wax on the skin, and a waxing strip takes the wax and the hair off. There is no pot to fill and no spatula. This guide uses the Xanitalia 100 ml cartridge, made in Pesaro, Italy, as the example.

Roll-on cartridge or a pot of soft wax?

Roll-on cartridge Pot (can) of soft wax
Applied with The roller head on the cartridge A spatula
Heated in A roll-on wax heater that holds the cartridge A wax warmer that holds the can
Removed with A waxing strip A waxing strip
Layer The roller sets a thin, even layer Depends on the hand holding the spatula
Works best on Longer, flatter areas such as arms, back and legs Any area, including small or curved ones a roller cannot follow
Cleanup No pot and no spatulas to clean or throw away Pot rim, collar and spatulas

Both are soft wax, so both need strips. The difference is how the wax gets onto the skin. Many salons keep cartridges for legs and arms and a pot for the areas where a spatula gives more control.

The four Xanitalia options

Option What it is
Pink Opaque pink wax. The label lists titanium dioxide, which is what makes it creamy and opaque.
Honey Clear amber wax, the classic honey-coloured soft wax.
Zinc Oxide Opaque cream-white wax. The label lists zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.
Azulene Xanitalia lists Azulene in its vegetal-oil range. Check the name printed on the cartridge label when you order.

All four come in the same 100 ml cartridge and are used the same way. The labels we could read list glyceryl rosinate, a rosin derivative, as the first ingredient, so these are not rosin-free waxes; do not use them on a client with a known rosin (colophony) allergy.

How to use a roll-on wax cartridge

  1. Put the cartridge in a roll-on wax heater and let the wax warm through.
  2. Test the temperature on the inside of your wrist.
  3. Roll a thin, even layer onto the skin in the direction of hair growth.
  4. Press a waxing strip over the wax and smooth it down.
  5. Hold the skin taut and pull the strip back against the direction of hair growth, close to the skin.

Follow the heater's own instructions for warm-up time. Work on clean, dry skin, and do a patch test on a new client.

What you need with it

  • A roll-on wax heater. It must take EU-standard 100 ml cartridges, which is how Xanitalia names this size. Check the cartridge size the heater lists before you buy. See wax warmers.
  • Waxing strips. Pre-cut strips or a roll you cut yourself. See wax essentials.
  • Pre- and after-wax care. A cleanser before, and an oil-based remover for wax residue after. See wax care.

Questions salons ask

Is roll-on wax a soft wax or a hard wax?

Soft wax. It goes on thin and is removed with a waxing strip. Hard wax is applied thicker and pulled off on its own, without a strip.

How much wax is in a Xanitalia cartridge?

100 ml. M1 sells it by the single cartridge and by the case of 24.

Do I need a special heater?

You need a roll-on wax heater, not a pot warmer. The heater has to fit the cartridge, so match the cartridge size it lists to the 100 ml EU-standard cartridge.

How long does an opened cartridge keep?

The Xanitalia label shows a 24-month period after opening.

Where can I buy Xanitalia roll-on wax in Canada?

M1 Nail & Beauty Supply stocks it in Markham, Ontario at wholesale prices, with in-store pickup and shipping across Canada: single 100 ml cartridge or case of 24. Other brands are in all roll-on wax.

Xanitalia roll-on wax, by the cartridge or by the case of 24.
