How to use Satin Smooth soft wax
- Remove the plastic lid, slide a protective collar onto the can and place the can in the wax warmer.
- Heat the wax until it has a thin, syrup-like texture.
- Cleanse the area to be waxed with a pre-wax cleanser.
- With a wooden spatula, apply a thin layer of wax in the direction of hair growth.
- Place an epilating strip over the wax and smooth it firmly in the direction of hair growth.
- Hold the skin taut and pull the strip off quickly against the direction of hair growth, keeping it close to the skin. Never reapply wax to the same area.
- When the area is finished, remove any wax residue from the skin with a wax remover.
These are Satin Smooth's own directions for its soft waxes, which name Satin Cleanser for step 3 and Satin Release for step 7. You will find warmers in our wax warmer collection, strips and applicators in wax essentials, and pre- and post-wax products in wax care.
Satin Smooth FAQ
What is Satin Smooth wax?
Satin Smooth is a professional hair removal brand that makes soft waxes, hard waxes, pebble waxes, wax warmers and pre- and post-wax care. Its website describes it as a professional division of American International Industries, a company that has served the beauty industry for more than 50 years. M1 stocks six Satin Smooth soft waxes in 14 oz (397 g) cans.
Which Satin Smooth wax is best for sensitive skin?
For the face and delicate, blemish-prone skin with fine to medium hair, choose Ultra Sensitive Zinc Oxide Wax. For sensitive skin with medium to coarse hair, choose Tea Tree Wax. For clients who avoid rosin, dyes or fragrance, choose Pure Clear Wax, which the label rates for all skin types.
Which Satin Smooth wax is best for coarse hair?
Deluxe Cream Wax is the one labelled for thick, coarse or curly hair; its emollients soften the hair before the pull, and it is for normal to dry skin. Honey Wax with Vitamin E covers fine to coarse hair on normal to oily skin.
Is Satin Smooth wax rosin-free?
Only Pure Clear Wax is. Its label says it is made without rosins, dyes and fragrances, and its published ingredient list has no rosin. The ingredient lists Satin Smooth publishes for Zinc Oxide, Tea Tree and Shea Butter + Cica all start with glyceryl rosinate, and the brand warns that pine resin is a main component of its waxes.
Do Satin Smooth soft waxes need strips?
Yes. All six waxes on this page are soft waxes: you spread a thin layer, press an epilating strip onto it and pull the strip off. Wax that sets and is pulled off without a strip is hard wax, which you will find in our hard wax collection.
How hot should Satin Smooth soft wax be?
Satin Smooth gives a texture, not a temperature: heat the wax until it is thin and syrup-like, not thick or lumpy, and test it by dipping an applicator. Always test the temperature on the inside of your wrist before applying it to a client.
How many cans are in a case of Satin Smooth wax?
A case holds 12 cans of 14 oz (397 g), 168 oz or about 4.76 kg of wax in total. At M1 the Zinc Oxide, Deluxe Cream, Honey and Tea Tree waxes can be ordered by the case; Pure Clear and Shea Butter + Cica are sold by the can.
